Click: Learn about the 'file' tab and backstage view in Microsoft Excel at www.teachUcomp.com. A clip from Maste. As Mike wrote, Options is the Windows equivalent of Preferences on a Mac. But there is no preference for that purpose. Pursuant to Mike's reply, there currently is no way to avoid the 'backstage' in Mac Excel 2016. Each time you launch the program it defaults to the OneDrive location, so you have to click the On My Mac button.
In Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) versions 2007 and later, there is an option for the Backstage View allowing you to manipulate aspects of a file. Backstage View is accessible by clicking the 'File' tab near the top-left of the application window. The backstage view provides access to saving, opening, info about the currently open file (Permissions, Sharing, and Versions), creating a new file, printing, and recently opened files.
The Backstage View also provides some information (properties) about the file, including the following.
- file size
- number of pages and words
- creation date
- last modified date
