Installation:
If you’re installing it natively then download (from the above link) Ford IDS V86 (Web Installer).exe, IDS_patch_86.exe, IDS-86.04 update.zip and Fordxprog.zip. Then install it in that same order and you’re good to go.

Buy Forscan or IDS?
IDS seems to have been written by people who couldn’t care less about the end user. Forscan is the complete opposite.
It’ll do almost everything IDS does and it’s a lot more user friendly.
The one thing you can’t do (yet) with forscan is PCM updates. You do need IDS for that.

Forscan is free and only needs a 15 quid adapter. The ones for IDS (a vcm clone or vxdiag) will cost you about 100.

How to use VXDIAG VCX Nano to do PCM programming?
Programming:
A required file “Extendprogramming.exe”, download on mega:

Decompressed -> select the car brand you want.
* I successfully updated the pcm on an Mk7 with an out-of-the-box vcx nano (the WiFi version running IDs 107 on a VM).

Solution to VXDIAG VCX Nano for Ford Voltage Issue:
Out of the box it appears the VCX NANO don’t provide the 18V FEPS voltage on pin 13, but they can be manually programmed to do so.
I tested that on my VCX NANO and it works, after doing the mod the VCX now provides the correct necessary FEPS voltage.

I think the voltage issues is solved by having a battery charger connected and supplying 14v.
Here is a quick guide for my success with VXDIAG VCX Nano:
Use Virtual machine installer found on CD V100, install VM then create a VM
Then on the virtual machine
Install calibration from V81 CD
Install V91 from V100 CD and reboot without opening software
Once rebooted open software and agree to 3 day licence, enter any details
Close software and Install V96 and reboot without opening
Once rebooted you can open software
Install software on CD V100 for the VX device
At this point I just installed deep freeze found on cd V100

– able to delete all old keys from the system then and add 2 new keys, whilst I was there I did some software updates on the PCM.

– Connect to a 2005 Ford Five Hundred, recognized (Good)

Conclusion:
IDS wins in functions and popularities.
VXDIAG VCX Nano for Ford wins in latest software version, functions and cheap price.
Forscan wins in easy-to-use, but less functions at cheaper price.
